Tiffany & Ben's Spring Wedding In Sayulita

This past year has been full of so many incredible weddings. Being based in such a popular location for destination weddings, every year the demand for professional hair and makeup services only seems to increase. Assisting my clients to the fullest, easing the stress of planning a wedding in a foreign country, and providing them with an exceptional experience has always been my top priority. To ensure that stays the same, a major goal I wanted to actualize this year was the expansion of my team. With the addition of a second team, future clients are looking forward to things such as budget friendlier pricing, more availability, etc. Well, the time has arrived. I am so excited to announce that the second bridal team has already begun working weddings and are absolutely killing it!

Justine was our lead bridal artist for Tiffany’s wedding. She did an incredible job getting Tiffany ready for her big day. She looked absolutely STUNNING with her bold red lips and her gorgeous loose braid! Great job Justine, I know that our clients will always be in good hands with you!

Tiffany’s bouquet was exceptional, with the red highlights which nicely accentuate her lips. It’s always exciting to have a bride who is eager to reflect their own personal style. Tiffany’s unique bridal look could not have been more perfect. Her elegant black lace dress  and choice of accessories was everything! It was a nice deviation from the norm seeing Tiffany with her dark dress and her groom in white. Such a stylish couple those two.

The venue, Villa Valentin, never disappoints. Such a beautiful Mexican styled villa with blue domed roofs and a view over looking the jungle and further off the ocean. The vegetation of cactus and vibrant flowers in bloom really made for a dreamy surroundings.

These two spent a day of total perfection. There isn’t much more beautiful than finding someone who always puts a smile on your face. From what I can tell, Tiffany, will spend a life filled with laughter.

Congratulations Tiffany and Ben, I, and everyone on my growing team wish you both all the best!

Jaime's Sayulita "Pueblo Magico" Wedding

Jaime and Jay’s wedding took place at the Gran Villa, at Villa Amor in Sayulita “Pueblo Magico”.

The Mexican styled villa is a great location for a more intimate gathering. It has a charming open layout and spacious terrace overlooking Sayulita’s beachfront as well as the surrounding lush landscape of rolling hills scattered with palm trees. This tropical paradise truly creates the perfect backdrop for your big day!

Jamie was absolutely stunning, a true classic beauty. Her elevated natural makeup, along with her classic yet updated hair perfectly complimented her elegant beaded sequin bodice dress. Seriously, I LOVED her bridal look!

Her sweet, relaxed disposition made everything flow really smoothly, resulting in a good time had by all during the preparations :) Aside from that, what I loved most was her bright smile, it is so welcoming and sincere. I think it says so much about a person. As always, Taryn Baxter did a an amazing job of capturing Jamie’s essence in her photos.

Surrounded by close friends and family, the wedding day was filled with happiness. No one seemed to be without a smile on their face. Seriously, what about that first kiss?! A beautiful couple in a beautiful setting, I guess there isn’t much more one could wish for!

It was such a pleasure working with you Jaime, thank you so much for choosing me for your big day. I wish the two of you a beautiful life together full of bliss!

Sayulita beach shoot

Being back in Edmonton's winter wonderland(ahem) has me dreaming of the beaches and vibrant beach culture of Sayulita. On this chilly day, it felt like the perfect time to share images from a Sayulita photoshoot last April with a couple of amazing babes! After all, this chill needs a serious dose of that Sayulita heat and sunshine to warm up!

During wedding season, it can be difficult to make the time to do personal projects or collaborative work, but when I do, I'm always so inspired and excited to get back to my clients with a renewed vigor. I'm so fortunate to work with such a huge number of talented and inspiring people in not one, but two different places! This shoot was special one, as it was with one of my favorite Sayulita photographers, Taryn Baxter , and my lovely friend and Second Artist Justine,  and it was exactly what I needed.

The day of the shoot was a tough one for me on a personal note. My dad had been in an accident back in Canada the day before and was seriously injured. After discussing with my family, we decided to evaluate on a day to day basis whether I should go home. Taryn and Justine were up for anything I was, so the shoot went on and boy was that ever what I needed! Those few hours doing what I love with two so genuinely fun and sweet women were amazing. It felt good to feel normal for a few hours.  They may not fully know how grateful I was(and am) for their compassion, love, and caring during those days, especially on that one. The good news is that my dad is back to his old stubborn self causing a rucous daily.

Ultimately, laughs were had when there was no reason to, and we three made some pretty amazing memories.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the memories 2015!

It's hard to believe2015 has come to an end, it seems like the year just flew by! I hope the last moments of 2015 were good to you, and that 2016 will bring you all many new memories to look back on and cherish in years to come!

2015 was good to me. It forced me to think about what is really important to me, learn how to pack really efficiently, and to go with the flow more than I ever have before.

Reflecting on this past year, both personally and professionally,  I am excited and humbled, not only by the people I am surrounded by, but by the work I do and the direction it is going...let's face it, I'm one of the lucky ones. My job is to make people look gorgeous. Don't get me wrong-it's not always easy. It's hard work and there are a lot of moving parts that have nothing to do with applying makeup or styling hair, but at the end of the day (even if it has been a 14 hour day with a 3AM wakeup time, I'm dead on my feet, and I have administrative work waiting for me at home),  women invite me into their homes to share the most precious and special moments of their lives. For a time, I am part of their family and friends, their confidant, the mirror showing them beauty they don't always see, their shoulder to cry on(if needed), and their voice of reason. There's a camaraderie between us that I never forget and I hope they don't either.

If there is one thing I have learned about myself this year is that anyone can do hair or makeup, but my strength goes beyond that;  I don't just want to do hair and makeup, I want to build relationships with my clients as much as I want to build them with my friends. I want their day to be amazing and unforgettable. I want the time we spend together to add something to their day that goes beyond beautifying them. That's my move, and that's what makes me good at what I do.

Thank you so much to every single person who has put their faith in me, clients(past, present, and future), other wedding professionals, and friends!

2015 was a good year. 2016 is going to be unreal, and I'm excited to live the hell out of it!!!
