Stephanie & Sam's Magic Sayulita Wedding

Stephanie and Sam were the sweetest and most fun couple to work with. I first met Steph a few months before her wedding, and from the beginning she was awesome. She always has a smile on her face, and I love the way her face lights up every time she and Sam are with one and other. There’s no doubt these two were made for each other.

Steph’s simple and unique style was reflected perfectly on her wedding day . She wore a beautiful two piece gown which perfectly contoured her form. I loved the button detail going down one side of the gown leading into a leg spilt in the skirt. Her smoky eye makeup and natural glow looked amazing in combination with her dark hair in loose curls. The look was simple yet chic. She could not have looked more elegant.

Lauren and her team at Nicoella nailed it as always. The set up was amazing, and every single detail of the whole wedding week was executed flawlessly! As for the florals provided by Floweriize, I was in love! They were absolutely beautiful. Steph’s day went off without a hitch - this was no small feat for the various vendors involved - yet they made it happen and everyone had a memorable time. The mood was light and happy., and all eyes were on Steph and Sam as everyone made sure their day was a dream come true.

I’ve since had the opportunity to visit with Steph on a brief trip to Mexico City this past spring. It was so great to reconnect with her and see how well she was doing.

My team and I had an amazing time working with you Steph, thank you for those memorable moments! Wishing you and Sam all the best with your new home in DC!

Lindsay's Chic Sayulita Wedding

With each wedding comes the excitement to see each brides unique bridal style and decor choices. Every time you discover another breathtaking dress and more incredibly creative decor ideas. Every wedding is different, which never allows for a dull moment. Without a doubt, Lindsay’s wedding brought this to the next level.

Lindsay looked like she stepped straight off the pages of Italian Vogue on her wedding day. With her soft glam makeup look and her simple low bun garnished with a white floral detail, she looked absolutely stunning. Her elaborate lace dress was altered to her exact specifications and she had a custom bridal cape made to complement the look perfectly. I mean, a bridal cape-this is one of my new favorite bridal accessories and she pulled it off like a champ! She quite literally looked like an angel, total perfection. Even the kimono she wore during the preparations was gorgeous, with delicately embroidered flowers, and a simple white one piece bathing suit underneath. Every detail was admirable.

The wedding took place at Villa Del Oso, a beautiful venue right at the foot of the beach with a wonderful view. The wedding planner, Yazmin, from Sea of Dreams weddings, outdid herself with the setup. I have always been a big fan of her work but I was completely blown away when I saw the full setup. The ceremony and reception area were jaw droppingly gorgeous, with cozy seating areas, lush table setups, and beautiful lighting to set the mood once the sun went down. Small lights strung from palm tree to palm tree and each of the rustic wood tables decorated with lush white florals, the beautifully stenciled dancefloor, what a gorgeous and inviting place to celebrate with these two lovebirds. Every detail of this day was executed to absolute perfection!

The photographer, Tom, killed it with the photos! Every shot was absolutely stunning. Having to choose only a few to share seemed nearly impossible, with all of them being so perfect. While I always love working with him, I have to say this is one of my favorite weddings he has shot…bravo Tom! It’s always such a blast to work with such a talented team!

Lindsay’s wedding was above and beyond. Every aspect was exceptional. The ambiance was lively and welcoming, and her sweet personality made it really enjoyable to work with her and let’s not forget, she looked absolutely stunning!!!

Congratulations Lindsay, it was so lovely working with you! We wish you only the best!

Kate & Juan's Classic Estate Wedding

Every year Sayulita, and the whole Bahia de Banderas, stretching from South of Puerto Vallarta to Lo de Marcos becomes an ever more popular wedding destination. With more weddings comes a bigger demand for wedding photographers, planners, florist, etc. This has given our team the opportunity to work with so many fun and talented people. The community here in Sayulita and the surrounding areas has been incredible.

On Kate and Juan’s wedding this past March, we had the opportunity to work some more with wedding photographer, Bruno Rezza, which is always so much fun. His calm presence makes for a great working environment and needless to say his photos are always GORGEOUS! Being able to work with people like Bruno is always a plus. The importance of having a good dynamic with the team you’re working with is huge, we handle a lot of things behind the scenes to ensure your day goes smoothly and time, especially photography time, is used well throughout the day.

As always, it is more than a pleasure to work with the lovely, talented and super fun Vida Bonita Events! Fun fact, I have been her client for an event as well. Somer is fun, professional, creative and pretty much all around amazing!!

In this regard I always enjoy working with Flora Amor. Florals more often than not largely tie into the whole bridal look. Even just the color and style of the bride’s bouquet largely tie into the final bridal look. So being familiar and comfortable with the florist is crucial. When doing hair and makeup, anytime there is a floral headpiece, this is something we must be ready to work with. Carmen always delivers with florals that are completely on point, creative and stylish. Plus, she’s just pretty much a rad woman, and she’s from the same city as me originally.

Kate and Juan’s wedding took place at beautiful Hacienda Antigua. This rustic venue always makes for a gorgeous backdrop, especially combined with Flora Amor’s beautiful formal pieces. Kate’s classic bridal look was stunning. Her softly waved hair was pinned to one side with a lovely floral hair piece by Flor Amor and her make up was kept light and natural. Her elegant lace dress had a gorgeous trailing back and delicate beaded waist band. All in all a true classic beauty!

Seeing Kate share this special day with those close to her was priceless. Particularly touching were the moments spent with her mother, every girl dreams to have their mother by their side on their big day. I always like to take a bit of time with the Mom’s and I love those special moments that we are witness to. It goes without saying that Kate’s mother couldn’t be more proud of her beautiful daughter!

Congratulations Kate and Juan, it was a pleasure being able to work with you! We wish you all the best!!

Breezy & Aaron's Boho Sayulita Wedding.

Every girl dreams of having the perfect wedding. So much time is spent visualizing every detail of her personal bridal look all the way down to the most minuscule aspects of the decor. When the day finally comes around and it’s time to see the outcome of all the preparations, there can be excitement and apprehension leading up to the moment when they finally see it all come together as many brides and their team of vendors have invested so much time in meticulously envisioning this day. In the case of Breezy everything was PERFECT. You could not imagine a better boho wedding, not one detail was left out.

Breezy’s wedding look was flawless. Her sheer wedding gown was beautifully embroidered, with a trailing back. She even had a delicate white sand henna design done on her hand and back, which perfectly complemented her dress, and her natural makeup allowed her stunning eyes to really pop. Yet, what most completed her look was her gorgeous “textured” fishtailed braid, with the added finishing touch of a few white flowers woven in. She looked amazing!! The perfect vision of a boho bride. Thank you the Ella and Kori for working with me on my styling team, it wouldn’t have been possible without you!

As if the bride wasn’t perfection enough,  the decor was beyond expectations. The colorful floral table piece, the scattered candles, crystal chandeliers,  rustic furniture set up on the beach. Everything looked phenomenal, Yazmin from Sea of Dreams Wedding did an amazing job . It was a total boho paradise. From the bride and her beautiful bouquet, to the set up, and the ceremony held on the beach, it was a total DREAM come true. The whole feel of the ceremony was so relaxed, intimate, and inviting. Such a memorable wedding day.

It was so nice working with this beautiful bride and her gorgeous party. Thanks for choosing me and my team to style you on your wedding day :)

Congratulations Breezy and Aaron, some dreams do come true!

El Cortez Tattoo Bride

More and more as of late, I feel the need to prioritize collaborating on styled shoots. The ones that are designed to encourage the people participating in them to spend some time together to play, try new things, and generally just have fun with what they do. This isn’t always easy during wedding season, but I’m happy to share this super fun one from a shoot in Edmonton.

In this profession the same team (more or less) works together regularly. Among the weddings, engagement sessions, family sessions, and special events, our clients have a specific look in mind, and we don’t always find the time to stretch our creativity on personal projects. The beauty of styled shoots is that they give us an opportunity not only to find new inspiration for ourselves, but to inspire others, and most importantly, to come back to our clients with renewed energy and creativity!

The objective of this shoot was to inspire women to show their own unique style, while incorporating traditional wedding aspects. We wanted to focus on a more edgy look and of course, those awesome tattoos and show that every woman can be a blushing bride, no matter their personal style. Now more than ever, couples choose to introduce elements into their events to better reflect who they are and their story. No two couples are the same, and those little details outside of the norm are ALWAYS my favorite.

We had such a blast doing this shoot, working with such talented artists is so inspiring. We don't always find much time to exchange while working as we are so focused on our clients and our role in their event. These creative sessions bring us closer together, give us greater insight on each other's professional processes (which can be super helpful!) and remind us how important it is to know who we are referring our clients to. Without a doubt, all the babes involved in this shoot are AMAZING! You wouldn't regret working with one or all of them.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated for their creative brilliance, and for always inspiring me to push a bit harder!

Madelyn + Lawrence. Married in Sayulita

I often say I am fortunate to do something I love so much for a career. While it is the product of a lot of  hard work, and a little luck,  it's still my dream job. Clients like Madelyn are part of the reason why. I can't believe she and Lawrence have been married for almost a year(yikes, I guess my 'i'm gonna blog more weddings' goal needs a bit of work), I loved working with her so much, she was an awesome client and even more awesome bride!

Anyone who has worked with me knows I love not only doing hair and makeup, but getting to know my clients and helping in any way I can to make them feel extra special on their big day. To me, it's not just professional, it's personal. I am part of someone's personal dream team, one they have carefully put together, and it's important I make every effort to be sure they have the best day possible!

I had a blast doing her hair and makeup on the wedding day, and she made me feel like I was part of her amazing family and peer group. Needless to say, the day was filled with laughter and hijinx-and I was extremely grateful she chose me to doll her and her girls up on her big day! Not only is she a knockout, but she is hilarious, and so super sweet! Her energy is contagious, and it's easy to see why she was surrounded by so much love.

She had a great team of Sayulita vendors to ensure everything went off without a hitch, a stunning venue, and every single detail was on point. I loved her bridal style, which was effortless, classic, and just a bit sassy(a lot like her!), not to mention, she was a total babe. If you get a chance to check her out on here on Instagram, she also happens to have the voice of an angel! You won't be sorry;)

Thanks so much again Madelyn and Lawrence, I cherish the moments I share with my clients and I love watching their lives grow!!

Adios 2016, bring on the New Year!

As this year comes to a close, I am reflecting, as always, on the year that has passed, everything that has unfolded in my life,  and  how extremely fortunate I am to spend such precious moments with so many amazing people! This year was no exception,  and I want to give a big shout out to the lovely ladies who trusted me to enhance their 'fabulous' for all their occasions,  and all the talented, fun and beautiful professionals that make my 'work' days bright. Each and every day.

This year has been filled with amazing moments, achievements and a whole lot of fun! I'm so lucky to have had my work featured in The Knot, on Snippet and Ink,  and Wedding Chicks. None of that would happen without the amazing women I worked with this year. It is always such an honor to get to know each one of my clients and their story, and share a real piece of ourselves with one another while we are at it. I know it's cliche, but I really don't feel like what I do is a job-I mean, really? Babes, fun, and creativity! Come on, it doesn't get much better than that!

I'm getting the hang of this Canada-Mexico thing and I can't help but pinch myself every time I think about how amazing it is to expand my skills with such diversity. This year was and is challenging personally at times, but that's life.  I'm making it through, and I'll be better for it. The bonus is I feel more accomplished for having come through those tough moments. I'm thankful to have a creative outlet that I can so thoroughly lose myself in to find the balance.

Looking back over the many images my clients and colleagues have sent me, I love reliving those moments we shared, I love to see the anticipation in each bride's eyes as she prepares for the biggest day of her life to this point, and am so excited to watch these beautiful women grow and build their lives. I feel connected to them more than they may know and I'm cheering each and every one of them on in all their life's adventures!.

I realize how positively my life is enriched by crossing paths with not only these lovely ladies as well as their family and friends, but also with the strong and dynamic people in the wedding industry who work tirelessly to do their part to create these amazing celebrations. Thank you to each and every one of you for sharing your laughter(and sometimes your tears) and making me a better person in the process!

Looking forward to the upcoming year, I can't help but feel totally excited with the second half of wedding season in Sayulita promising to treat me as well as it always does with the most amazing people, a Dominican Republic wedding with an amazing couple and kickass photographers, then back to Canada for summer weddings, with three bride's this summer who were bridesmaids of clients past tying the knot!

Hasta luego 2016! Now bring on 2017, I'm ready for you!

Sayulita beach shoot

Being back in Edmonton's winter wonderland(ahem) has me dreaming of the beaches and vibrant beach culture of Sayulita. On this chilly day, it felt like the perfect time to share images from a Sayulita photoshoot last April with a couple of amazing babes! After all, this chill needs a serious dose of that Sayulita heat and sunshine to warm up!

During wedding season, it can be difficult to make the time to do personal projects or collaborative work, but when I do, I'm always so inspired and excited to get back to my clients with a renewed vigor. I'm so fortunate to work with such a huge number of talented and inspiring people in not one, but two different places! This shoot was special one, as it was with one of my favorite Sayulita photographers, Taryn Baxter , and my lovely friend and Second Artist Justine,  and it was exactly what I needed.

The day of the shoot was a tough one for me on a personal note. My dad had been in an accident back in Canada the day before and was seriously injured. After discussing with my family, we decided to evaluate on a day to day basis whether I should go home. Taryn and Justine were up for anything I was, so the shoot went on and boy was that ever what I needed! Those few hours doing what I love with two so genuinely fun and sweet women were amazing. It felt good to feel normal for a few hours.  They may not fully know how grateful I was(and am) for their compassion, love, and caring during those days, especially on that one. The good news is that my dad is back to his old stubborn self causing a rucous daily.

Ultimately, laughs were had when there was no reason to, and we three made some pretty amazing memories.

Enjoy!
